Freshman Elli Gordon is the only member of the girls varsity golf to advance to Masters.

Freshman can often be looked down upon, for their immaturity and inexperience. But freshman Elli Gordon is everything but immature and inexperienced.

“Elli is mature beyond her years and has a really good worth ethic,” Coach Frank Shields explains.

Elli has been competing in golf tournaments since she was nine years old and is now competing against some of the top golfers in the SJS section.

The varsity girls golf team is made up of 12 girls, five of which are seniors. With growing competition in the playoff run, 11 of the 12 Rocklin varsity girls golfers have fallen through the cracks, all but Elli Gordon.

On October 24, 2016 she sealed a spot into the Masters tournament when she placed high enough in the division.

Elli plans to stick to her usual game plan this week in preparation for masters.

“I don’t like to switch up my routine so I’m just going to keep practice and focus on my struggle areas,” says Elli Gordon.

Now it is time for Elli to bring some thunder to the challengers as she takes on masters as the lone wolf on Monday, October 31.
