VARSITY WATER POLO

Boys:

League Record: 4-1

Overall Record: 6-1 (Including Tournaments 11-2)

This Week: This week they began the league tournament with a huge win over Nevada Union 18-13. The second round of the tournament will continue today at Woodcreek.

Last Week: In their last regular season league game, the boys defeated Woodcreek 11-8.

Injury Report: None

Girls:

League Record: 2-3

Overall Record: 7-6 (including tournament 10-8)

This Week: In their last regular season game, the girls had a tough loss against Woodcreek 5-6

Last Week: In a tough Del Oro tournament, last weekend the girls were able to fight for a record of 2-4.

Key Moments: In their loss to Woodcreek, the opposing goalie had a great game early on, but they almost surmounted a comeback late in the fourth quarter

Injury Report: None

 

VARSITY FOOTBALL

League Record: 1-2

Overall Record: 4-3

Last Week: Rocklin played against Del Oro. We lost 26-14.

This Week: Rocklin is playing against Woodcreek in an away game.

Bright Spots: “Toward the end of the game the team rallied, scoring 14 points at the end of the quarter.” (Cade Wyant). “Our offense stood our. Gavin Janis and Hunter Gonzo stood out by making a lot of tackles throughout the game.” (Brenden Rakela).

They said it: “We really wanted to stop their passing game, that was a big key, especially on defense. We wanted to stop them from getting the ball to Mason Herst.” (Jeffrey Farley). “The coach helped us get our mind off of our loss after the game.” (Chase Webb).

 

CROSS COUNTRY

Last Week: Varsity participated in the Rough Riders Tournament last Friday October 14th.

This Week: Saturday October 22nd Varsity is headed to Mt. San Antonio for the Mt. Sac Invitational. That same day, all teams are meeting at the Springview Middle School track for the Springview time trial starting at 8:00 a.m.

Bright Spots: This week part of the cross country team is attending the Springview time trial and the other half is going to Mt. San Antonio. Coming up some of the team’s top runners will be attending a finals meet held all the way in Los Angeles.

They said it: “Practice was a lot of fun and we worked very hard this week.” -Daniel McElhinney

DANCE

Last Week: The dance team performed at the varsity football game last Friday.

This Week: The dance team will not be performing this Friday because the varsity football game is away.

Bright Spots: The dance team is currently learning and practicing their last football routine which will be performed at the game on Senior Night.

They Said It: “It was really stressful not knowing if we were performing the marching band routine,” Caitlyn Kan commented about last Friday.

 

FROSH FOOBALL

League Record: 1-2

Overall Record: 4-2

Last Week: Lost to Del Oro 20-7

This Week: Rocklin @ Woodcreek

Bright Spots: After halftime there was an 80 yard kickoff return by Nolan Oharran and Tanner Gomes got a touchdown

They said it:  Nolan O’Harran said, We played hard and came up short”

 

JV FOOTBALL

League Record: 1-2

Overall Record: 4-3

Last Week: Lost to Del Oro 7-0

This Week: Away @ Woodcreek

Bright Spots: Zach broke his ankle on both sides and pulled his tendon.

They said it: “They are a really hard team but we gave it our all,” said Zach Miller

 

GOLF

This Week: Sierra Foothill League Finals at Timber Creek in Roseville mONDA(10/17). The team is guaranteed 3rd place for the season.

Last Week: On Tuesday (10/11) girls varsity golf beats Woodcreek 217-234.

Next week: Golf will be playing in the D2 tournament on (10/24), in order to advance they must place 4th.

Most Improved: As the season winds down, Lorin Danielson was most improved.

They Said It: “Play offs on Monday went well, unfortunately we didn’t win but we placed third out of seven teams so we’ll be going to divisionals  as a team.” – Mr. Shields

 

JV GOLF

This Week: The season has ended so there are no more matches this week.

Last Week: The team defeated Whitney and Woodcreek in their final duel matches on Monday and Tuesday (10/10 and 10/11).  The season ended with a win in a league tournament at Nevada County Country Club on Wednesday (10/12). Maddy Davis and Lauren Husten won the two man scramble.

 

Most Improved: As the season comes to an end, Lauren Husten has been steadily lowering her scorers.

They Said It: “Because we had such a big team with 31 girls they’ve all become very independent so they’ve all improved.” – Mr.Casey  Nichols

 

FROSH VOLLEYBALL

Overall Record: 18-3

Last Week: On October 10, they played at Rocklin High against Woodcreek HS and had a 1-2 loss. Then on October 12, they played Folsom HS at Folsom HS and won 2-0.

This Week: They played Granite Bay HS at Rocklin HS on Monday and won 2-0. They will be playing Nevada Union tonight October 19 here at Rocklin High School starting at 5:00.

Bright Spots: “A little of both and when Ally got a kill back from the back row, great serves by Abby and Gracie.” Cheyenne Anderson. “Just in general there were a few girls that had never played before and they have all improved so we are all playing at the same level.” Ashley Franz

They said it: “We beat them in two sets. We worked really well together and showing a lot of team spirit and in a better mood so we worked really well together.” Ashley Franz

 

JV GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Overall Record: 18-3

Last Week: Rocklin defeats Folsom on 10/12,2-1. Beats Granite Bay 2-0.

This Week: Tonight they play Nevada Union HS 10/19. Oakridge 10/26.

Bright Spots: On 10/12, Ivana Erlandsen had very powerful hits.

They said it: “This season was so much fun and I think as a team we really improved. We’ve done good in the last couple of games. I’m really going to miss playing with the girls once the season is over. Also Ivana had amazing hits at the game against Folsom!” -Summer Frank

 

JV TENNIS

This Week: Oakridge on 10/18 and Del Oro on 10/20

Bright Spots: Haley Bradbury and Janae Schmidt played exhibitions last week and won two of the three matches. Brynlee Cardall and Zoe Shorts worked well together during their doubles match and continue to improve during their first year of tennis.There were also no injuries during last week’s matches.

They said it:: “The hardest part of tennis for me is serving and if you miss a ball or lose a match you don’t let it get to your head because then you’ll lose your focus” (Haley Bradbury). “The part of the last game I played was being with my teammates and all the support they gave.” (Brynlee Cardall).

 

JVCHEER

Last Week: Rocklin lost against Del Oro, cheer did not perform.

This Week: Away game against Woodcreek, cheer is working on their halftime this week at practice.

Bright Spots: JV cheer got to cheer in the rain for the first time. They did not know what to expect with wearing ponchos and having to set up some field decorations. They were able to have fun while cheering in the rain.

They said it: “I really think the boys played a great game although they lost, they outplayed Del Oro. Even though the rain did stop us from performing, it was awesome to finally have a football game that was cold enough so we could wear our warm ups.” (Mariah Wayne)
