A: “ I learned that life after high school is going to be hard.” Senior, Nicole Kinser

A: “I learned how to get along with people from different cultures. I learned this by going into it [new countries] with an open mind and having an understanding that we are all human and culture depends on where you live. It’s very interesting getting to know people that have a very different lifestyle, and it taught me a lot about accepting other people, also incorporating ways different people live into my lifestyle. I was willing to accept and be open to their culture and try new things that they’re accustomed to and that I’m not. I used this to learn about different family dynamics people have and the way their homes are set up and the way they eat. I met Korean girls who back home have to go to school from 8 a.m. to about 10 p.m., so that makes me grateful for our school system. I learned that not everything happens in Rocklin, or California or even the U.S. There is a lot more to see and learn, and a lot more beauty in the world, and there are a lot of different kinds of people in the world and a lot to learn about everybody else. Other people live opposite lives that we do and that’s really cool to be apart of .” – Junior, Grace Wallach
