This year has been a big one for Rocklin High School. There have been so many new changes to our school this year and now we can add one more to that list.

Mrs. Abby Huber, dance team coach for 8 years, will no longer be coaching anymore due to familial obligations.

“Coach Huber recently had a son and with everything that’s happening she is going to try and expand her family a little bit more, she’s really busy, and we all definitely respect that that’s a good reason why she’s not going to be our head coach anymore,” said junior Audrey Trejo.

Starting a family can be stressful, and it would be hard for Mrs. Huber to devote all the time needed to be the dance team’s head coach.

However, the team will not be left coachless. Assistant coach Janae Celira (Coach “C”), who has been the assistant coach for four years, will be taking over.

“I’m definitely excited to see how our new head coach takes over and change the program, but I still think that Huber will have a huge role in the program and making sure that everything is up to the same level that it has been,” said Audrey.

According to senior Emily Masnica, this change in coaches won’t have a large impact on the team, and who like Audrey, says that Huber will still play a role in the program.

“I don’t think it will change the team that much because she’s still going to be very involved with the team and Coach C who is taking over as the head coach has been our assistant coach for the past four years and she knows what she’s doing,” said Emily.

The team will obviously miss her very much, but they understand it’s going to benefit Mrs. Huber greatly.

“I’m really sad that she’s going to be leaving but then again I’m leaving too, so it’s not as bad for me, but I know the girls love her and the team loves her, so i know it’s going to be hard that she’s not going to be our head coach anymore,” Emily said.

Coach Huber was a much loved coach among the dance team members and even though she will no longer be coaching, she will still have a large role in the dance program afterward.
