Tired of the same Nicholas Sparks love stories with the same plot lines and cliche love stories? Then Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is the movie for you. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies offers everything from forbidden love to plot twists to zombie guts. Refined ladies in fancy dresses slaying zombies: what more could you ask for?

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, released on Feb. 5, follows five sisters in 19th century England dealing with the pressures of marrying as well as a growing zombie population. The movie features protagonist Elizabeth Bennet (Lily James) as she looks for a possible husband and butts heads with love interest Fitzwilliam Darcy (Sam Riley), slaying zombies along the way.

Before being made into a movie, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies was a book written by Robert Ayscough, the author of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. In 2012, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter was made into a movie as well.

Ayscough takes the literary classic Pride and Prejudice, originally written by Jane Austen, and incorporates zombies into the mix of love and the pressures of marrying.

As someone who has not seen or read Pride and Prejudice, I do not know how closely Ayscough stuck to the plot of Pride and Prejudice. I have, however read his other novel, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and in that book, he takes the history of Abraham Lincoln from his early life to his presidency and basically stuck vampires everywhere in between.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies accomplishes its task of delivering the gore its audiences want and for once giving a movie a strong, empowering female lead. The plot was entertaining and fast-moving, keeping every audience member on the edge of their seats.

The next time your significant other tries to drag you to a Nicholas Sparks movie, skip it and go see Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. It offers a well developed story line and a love triangle, all centered around the unpredictable element of flesh-eating zombies. This makes for much better entertainment than the cliche, all-too-predictable romance movies that viewers are used to.
