Fans worldwide were on the edge of their seats on Nov. 16, awaiting the premiere of the fourth installment of the Hunger Games series. On opening weekend, Mockingjay, Part 2 grossed about $102 million dollars.

Was it worth the wait?

The 137 minute long movie follows the girl on fire, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), on her journey to take down the corrupt Capitol to kill President Snow (Donald Sutherland), with the help of her friends and the people of District 13.

The movie continues from where we left off in Mockingjay Part 1, where we saw Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) strapped to a hospital bed after they got him back from the Capitol, where he was brainwashed to think that Katniss was the enemy and that she needed to be taken down.

The movie, overall, was action-packed, with something always happening to keep you on the edge of your seat. There are heart-wrenching scenes, heartwarming scenes, and scenes that will make you question who’s on who’s side.

When I first saw it, I was shocked by how closely the movie followed the last part of the book. It seemed to stay true to it as much as possible, which isn’t seen very often in book adaptations. The movie was a nice change from the slower pace of Part 1.

Fans waited almost a year for this movie and it proved to be worth the wait. The movie was enjoyable for everyone, whether or not you’re an obsessed fan or are just seeing recreationally. All in all, Mockingjay, Part 2 was worth the expensive ticket to see it in theaters.
