Every year, the theater department here at Rocklin puts on a fall play. Cast members put in countless hours rehearsing for the play, ready to put on a good show for their peers and teachers.

This year, the play is The Three Musketeers. The play is about D’artagan’s first adventures in Paris to become a Musketeer. There are many subplots to the overall plot line, such as a romance between D’artagan and Constance and the queen’s affair with another man.

Rehearsals for the play are usually long and rigorous. William Stout, a senior who plays D’artagan, said that, “Most rehearsals are from three to five and it’s pretty tiring because we have to run scenes but there’s also a lot of sword fighting so we run a lot too. It’s a workout.”

Cast members would have to come in during plus and lunch just to learn how to sword fight, if they didn’t have previous experience with it. This made rehearsals seem even longer, especially for those like William, who has to stay for the whole extent of it.

However, it seems like all of the hard work will pay off.

Drama adviser Mrs. Cinny Toepke said, “It’s going great. Everyday they’re up there on stage fighting and doing dramatic and very funny things and it’s fun. We have a little of everything in the show. You’ll definitely laugh, you’ll definitely cry. It’s very good.”

There are two casts for the play: cast A and cast B. The main three roles are double casted. The two people playing D’artagan are Stewart Wilson and William Stout, the two playing Lady Dewinter are Maddie Horton and Marlise Dizon, and the two playing Constance are Kylie Fuiji and Drew Millett.

The play will debut on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. There are also 7 p.m. shows on Nov. 7, 11, 12, and 14 and one matinee show on Nov. 7 at 2 p.m.
