Boba: Sure to Please

Boba: Sure to Please

What is boba? Boba, literally meaning big pearls, is made from the cassava root and, when cooked correctly, it becomes a delicious chewy ball. Over this past weekend I had the privilege to go to Lollicup, located at 1253 Pleasant Grove Blvd in Roseville, and to experience boba for myself.

Lollicup is known for its fruit tea and juice, slush, smoothies, and primarily for its milk tea. Milk tea is a Hong Kong-style drink made with black tea and (usually condensed or evaporated) milk.

At Lollicup you can also order snacks or a meal to accompany your beverage. They have various options to choose from, such as beef stew rice or fried squid balls.

After looking over the menu, I decided to get a vanilla milk tea with boba. Vanilla was just one of the many flavors on the Lollicup menu; other flavors included honeydew, strawberry and jasmine. You can also choose to substitute the boba for pudding and different kinds of jellies.

After placing my order, I did not have to wait very long for my drink. The service there was very fast and efficient. They had my drink ready before I could even put my money away.

The tea was very refreshing and sweet. The boba was delicious as well; its texture was smooth and very chewy. It reminded me of tapioca.

I enjoyed Lollicup so much that I even went there a second time. This time, however, I went around lunch time and it was very busy compared to my first visit in the late afternoon.

Anyone who likes to try new things or is a boba fanatic should go to Lollicup. Many items on their menu are sure to please.
