It’s that time again, time to arrange who will be our next year’s cheerleading and dance team members that will be the faces of the sidelines. Tryouts had taken place starting Monday April 6th and ended Thursday April 16th. After two weeks of dancing, conditioning, and evaluating, our new 2015-2016 Dance Team and Cheer Squad members were determined!

Junior, Malu Kineret, who is self taught finally made the dance team for her last year as a senior after not making the team going into her junior year.

“I mostly started working by myself….I basically self taught, I didn’t do classes until junior year outside of school,” said Malu.

Over the course of two years Malu has only taken a few dance classes but had mostly improved through training by herself and taking the dance classes provided by the high school.

Malu exclaims “I’m excited to be with all my classmates and friends the first Friday night we go on the field for the beginning of a special year.”

Malu is very confident that next year will be her best year at Rocklin High School because she gets to be “More involved with the school.”  She is just one of the many girls who strive to work harder to make our sports and our school one of a kind.

Junior Elysia Gerald is entering her 4th year of cheerleading at Rocklin High. She started as a freshman and mentioned that she, “would not be friends with all of the people that she is if it weren’t for cheer, it’s like a really big family.”

Elysia definitely recommends it for anyone who is considering it. “I really liked cheer, it has gotten me really involved with the school.”

She remarked that she would like to go on to college cheerleading if she could, and is looking forward to this year to come.
