RHS looks forward to upcoming OPS shows

OPS week is back at Rocklin High School! This annual theater event runs from Wednesday, April the 29th, to Saturday May 2nd. All of these shows are at 7:00 p.m. and average around an hour and 30 minutes.

But what are OPS’s? The One Person Shows are small segments featuring our very own Rocklin High School’s Theatre IV Seniors. They write, direct, cast and star in something inspired inside of themselves for originality as well as support for the VAPA Department. All funds go to the department and it is a community fundraiser made by all the art students and their performance applications.

Depending on the director and days, the shows may vary, between Drama and Comedies, there is everything new and eccentric coming to the stage.

April 29: “Bear With Us” With Kylee Mebust, Kelsey Rosenberg , and Stina Steiber

April 30: “Stranger Than Fiction” With Colin Chambers, Belle Maalouf, and Lauren White

May 1: ”Laugh! Or Don’t, It’s Up to you!” With Kayla Dahla, Nina Gioiosa, Katie Schwab, and Monte Volpe

May 2: “That’s Hottttt!” With Evan Brown, Zach Diele, and Max O’Rourke

Even still, the idea of OPS’s are constructs and not finite, the morals and goals go beyond the stereotypical mainstage productions. In a similar manner there is even a TPS, or Two Person Show, combining the ideas and focusing on one idea. Kayla Dahla and Nina Gioiosa combined their comedic features into an entire program breaking down boundaries while still making you giggle.

“We’ve been working very hard on [the TPS]. Of course all OPS are great, because, like you said, we get to throw our minds on the stage. Nina and I got to combine our minds and work together, which works so well because we just fill in what the other is missing. We’ve essentially birthed our comedic lovechild. She’s named ‘No Homo’ and everyone should see her life unfold,” said senior Kayla Dahla.

Come out and support these Senior’s final audiences. Tickets start at $5, and the price goes down by a dollar for every different day you come, so bring your doubled ticket as a coupon and enjoy more nights of unique shows of creative proportions.
