Track Prepares for Friendly Competition
Many sports at RHS enjoy friendly competition with their cross-town rivals, the Whitney Wildcats. Track and Field is no different.
The annual Whitney vs. Rocklin “practice meet” will be tomorrow, March 3. Because Whitney isn’t in the same league as Rocklin for track and field, this meet is more of a practice meet. It is an opportunity for returning athletes to qualify for later meets and for new athletes to get a base time or a base mark to expand from.
Due to the casual feel of the meet, most athletes have a lot of fun.
“I’m not where I want to be in my training,” Lisa Adriani, a Junior distance runner said. “I still have more work to do, but this meet is mostly for practice. It should be fun.”
The meet also offers time for students from different schools to interact. The relaxed atmosphere allows for this more than a typical track meet would. Additionally, athletes may be competing against their own cross-town friends.
Come out to support both teams tomorrow at 3:30 on the RHS track.
