Legendary Dance Show Proves to Be Legendary

You see it, the girls carrying around their laundry baskets full of clothes and shoes, are they doing your laundry? No, its that time of the year again for the annual advanced dance show.

Backstage, there are instantaneous wardrobe  swaps, costume malfunctions and last minute formation changes are amongst the many things the audience doesn’t see. Dancers running off stage and having to be ready for their next dance by the time they’re off is non-existent as far as the audience is concerned.

Even with all the stress of running around frantically getting ready, the dancers are still able to  gracefully and quietly run on and off stage during black-outs trying to be invisible until the lights shine and the smiles come on.

Chaos is the only word that can describe the feeling of being behind the scenes of the Advanced Dance Show. Although everyone is frenzied and worked up we all take at least a second to give one another a big hug and a voicing of how good they will do/did.

No one person is selfish; we all are looking out for each other and willing to help out with anything before they can even finish asking their friend. Random girls I dont even know came to the rescue and pulled my dress out of my shorts avoiding an embarrassing mishap [Riley Baldwin].

Despite all the disorder and the panic we still can smoothly run the show with the help of all the Rocklin High School dancers and the behind the scenes crew. We all love to perform and share with everyone the one of many talents RHS has to offer!

On the audience side of things, upon arriving at the high school about 10 minutes before 7:00, the theater was already packed. You were greeted at the entrance with a program, and then you went and chose your seat. The room was filled with friends and family eagerly waiting to see the show.

The lights dimmed right after 7, and the opening dance started right away. The dance  performances were amazing, but in between dances, the hosts Ashton Aspley, Chad Medd and Brett Young kept the audience laughing at their quirky antics. Their announcements in between performances were both informative (i.e. upcoming events and when refreshments will be available), while also entertaining the audience successfully until the next dance routine started.

The show was very attention grabbing, with a mixture of dance levels, genders and dance styles. Each dance made you want to get up and dance with them, and made you eager to see what next routine they had in store. The transitions were instant, making one wonder how they got backstage, changed costumes, and came back within a minute even possible.

Overall the show was a huge success, clearly showing all of the time and effort that was put into this event. You will not regret going to see it, so bring friends, buy roses for the performers, and have a great time at the Rocklin High School Legendary Dance Show.
