With wrestling season coming to an end for the team, only a few wrestlers are advancing to championships and hoping to make it to state. Seven out of eight varsity athletes placed in league championships and are preparing for Divisionals, taking place this week.

Wade Clow, Eddie Zamora, Hunter Gonzales, and Logan Bik are a few of those who are looking to continue their success at Divisionals.

“To prepare myself for the next tournament I need to cut a little bit of weight, but mainly focus on my mindset,” says sophomore Logan Bik.

Although Logan was upset by his performance at League Championships, he hopes to place fifth at Divisionals, as he did last year, and ultimately advance to Masters.

“I was disappointed. Last year I placed second in League and this year I took fifth. But I’m glad I still made it and get to keep going,” adds Logan.

With Divisionals right around the corner, the individuals are preparing for the tough competition ahead. The athletes are putting all their energy and focus into trying to achieve their personal goals and making it to State.

“I need to practice hard, drill hard, keep my mentality, and wear my lucky socks to prepare myself for Divisionals,” says freshman Hunter Gonzales.

Now that the regular season has come to an end, teams do not advance. Only the most skilled individuals will move forward in postseason.

“I am dissatisfied with the outcome of Rocklin’s season. We could have done a lot better, but I’m hoping to keep grindin’ throughout postseason,” adds Logan.

Seven individuals will wrestle at Divisionals, hoping to place and continue their success in the upcoming postseason tournaments. Wrestlers who advance will compete at Masters, which leads to State Championships.
