Yelp Needs Help

Just a piece of advice:  don’t always trust the reviews on Yelp. Raku Sushi, located near Black Bear Diner and Togo’s on Five Star Blvd, received four stars on Yelp, which has been pretty reliable in the past. For this sushi place, people must have gotten it mixed up with a different restaurant because Raku should have gotten zero stars, maybe one at maximum.

To be honest, there were a bunch of disappointing points to this establishment; I don’t even know where to start. For starters, the waiters were god-awful. Nobody greeted us when my party came in and we waited for about five minutes to get noticed by a team of seven or eight people just standing behind the counter that faces the door! When we were seated, they didn’t ask if we wanted any drinks or even try to make a conversation. They literally just walked away.

And if that wasn’t a sign of what was to come, we waited fifteen minutes to get our drinks and another to get our sushi (and keeping in mind that this place wasn’t even busy and again, everybody just stood behind the counter).

In total, I’d say we had four different people serve us/help us. All of the employees, except one, looked so unhappy to be there and just wanted us to get out. The one that was happy was so sweet and tried to get the food out as promptly as possible, but it was hard when everybody else was lazy.

Besides the less than adequate staff, the sushi was slightly better. There were only four pieces to the roll, so we had to constantly keep re-ordering. And trying to order when nobody helps you is a thousand times more disappointing than the fact that none of the sushi really stood out or dazzled me. Even at the end of the all-you-can-eat, I was still hungry. That must say something, right?

If anybody knows what’s good for them, then please please please stay away from the fried oysters. They not only tasted disgusting, but they left an even worse aftertaste. I couldn’t even believe it was possible. It was just that bad. Now I’m contemplating whether or not they even cooked it all the way through. Gross.

Don’t go here. Don’t waste the gas or your time. And certainly don’t have expectations.
