Only 13% of students at Rocklin High School have donated blood. Ironically, about 13% percent of people entering the hospital each day need blood. Donating at the RHS blood drive is a great opportunity for students to donate for their first time. Run by BloodSource, a community-based, non-profit organization, the school blood drive provides a majority of the blood needed by our community.

Why donate blood?

  • Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood.*

  • 1 donation has the potential to save as many as 3 lives.*

  • Blood donors at the RHS blood drive get a free T-shirt

With the final blood drive of the year coming up on May 28th, many students are eager to donate for their first time. At the end of the year, more students are eligible to donate blood due to a majority of the sophomore class turning 16.

“We’ve already had multiple students come in to sign up to donate, and sign ups haven’t even started yet,” said Mr. Paul Werner, CSF adviser.

Sign ups to donate blood start the week of May 19th during plus and lunch outside of the cafeteria. The process of donating blood usually takes about 30 minutes, including the time it takes to register and fill out paperwork.
