Was the Dance 1 Show a Hit?

Just a quick note to those who are going to see this show:  this show is nothing like before.

I’ll just start off with the fact that I love the emcees Kayla Dahla and Jake Young. These two are perfect together and are just two of the most silly (in a good way) people in general.

I do have to say this is one of the best put-together Dance 1 shows I’ve been to. These girls are so rehearsed and there’s no way you can’t tell that. Every movement and ripple was perfectly timed, I can’t begin to imagine how many times they ran through it to get at that stage.

Honestly, it was a nice surprise to see these dancers do something other than jazz for the show. The “Don’t Laugh at Me” near the end of the show was really just refreshing in the sense that people don’t normally see that in Dance 1 shows.

The specialty dances, which are performed by dancers not necessarily in Dance 1, are . . . I can’t even explain how amazing these individual dances are.

There’s Junyoung Ham’s, the Dance 2 Partner’s student director, dance, where he makes every movement seem effortless. And even if it’s the smallest movement, it’s so full of emotion. It’s hard to explain it, just watch and see what I’m talking about.

Then, Katrina Foley’s dance to “Sarajevo,” which is in my top three dances, was just stunning. All of her movements, her jumps, turns, everything was synchronized with the music so well, I’m really jealous that not just these specialty dancers, but all of Dance 1 students are doing things that I don’t have the coordination to do.

I’m not even kidding about the coordination aspect. These girls are doing piques and chaines which, although could be toned down a bit, is a feat in itself.

For Mrs. Blankenship’s first dance show, I have to give her mad props. It threw in some music, moves and more that I wasn’t suspecting, so it’s not really comparable to previous years. As I said before, it’s refreshing.
