Taylor’s Milkshakes… Yay or Nay?

I’ve heard teachers and students alike talk about how amazing the milkshakes are at Taylor’s, a restaurant in Loomis. This restaurant is renowned for the amount of milkshake flavors it offers: including twix, coconut, red velvet, peppermint patty, and many, many more. It sells over 120 flavors of milkshakes, which in itself is very impressive, but I was overall disappointed with my first trip to this local hangout.

First of all, as you’re driving to Loomis, you pass Taylor’s Corner, which I assume is the fast version of the actual restaurant. It looks like a little shack, not a restaurant. My family saw this, so we pulled in, and despite the ‘Yes, We’re Open’ sign, it was empty, with multiple flies buzzing around inside. We thought that that was it, which was disappointing, but we carried on into downtown Loomis to find somewhere else to get a milkshake. However, as we were driving through downtown, we saw another Taylor’s, and this one was an actual building.

We pulled in, and went inside, already a little annoyed that the shack had claimed to be open, but obviously wasn’t. As we walked in one of the two doors, we saw that there were two lines. The one from the door opposite ours had a few different families standing around, whereas our door was also forming a line. Eventually, the people on the other side joined our line, but because there was no organized way to form a line, there was confusion among the customers.

On the other hand, when we went to go order our drinks, the service was very friendly, and I could peer past the cash register, and I saw a staff member on a break, which showed me that the owners take good care of their employees, which I liked. However, it was a little dirty. The floors weren’t that clean, and the tables had trash on, and weren’t that pleasant to look at.

Then we got our drinks, but when we tried them, they had gotten the order of my dad’s drink wrong. He had ordered banana, but he got vanilla.

I think that the reason service is so quick, is that they make a standard vanilla milkshake in bulk, and then add syrups for flavoring, and they just forgot to add the flavoring to my dad’s, because they were so busy.

This was another thing that bothered me. They added syrup for a banana flavor, instead of actual bananas. Because these milkshakes were so raved about, I was expecting a lot more.

I had the peppermint patty milkshake, and the first couple sips were decent, but after about three sips, it tasted a little milky, and I couldn’t even finish it. They are very thin milkshakes. Personally, I prefer a thicker milkshake that has a little substance to it. My brother had the twix, and neither of us enjoyed it. It was a thin milkshake, but with, what I presume are, twix chunks in it, you couldn’t get any of the milkshake out through the straw.

This whole experience wasn’t that great, but I’m glad I tried something new.
