Last month, a video from 2005 of Donald Trump and Billy Bush talking about grabbing women inappropriately without their consent was released. This happened on a bus while they were going to the Days of Our Lives set.

Trump can be heard saying, “When you’re a star, [the women] let you do it. You can do anything.”

His excuses for his statements included that it was just “locker room talk” and that “men talk about women.”

However, this brings up serious issues. If this is just how men talk about women and we don’t question Trump or write it off as some stupid comments he made, then wouldn’t we be encouraging misogyny? Some people might say, “oh, boys will be boys” and “this is just how society is,” but that doesn’t fix the problem of misogyny in our world.

Ever since this video came out, women who have met Trump have come out and said that Trump has either touched them inappropriately or have kissed them without their consent. Two women have been featured in stories from the New York Times and People magazine.

On Twitter, Trump said, “The phony story in the failing @nytimes is a TOTAL FABRICATION. Written by same people as last discredited story on women. WATCH!”

Trump’s spokespeople and lawyers have been saying that the story was “absurd” and “reckless, defamatory and constitutes libel.”

He’s even gone so far to say that Hillary Clinton is the reason these women spoke out against him, saying that she told them to lie to hurt his campaign.

Trump, after the third presidential debate, came out and said that he would sue any woman that had accused him of sexually assaulting them. “Every woman lied when they came forward to hurt my campaign. Total fabrication. The events never happened. Never. All of these liars will be sued after the election is over.”

Trump has posted various tweets about the accusations.

“No one respects women more than me,” he addressed both verbally and on social media.

However, during the last debate, while Clinton was answering a question about Social Security funding, he interrupted her by saying, “such a nasty woman.”

After this, many Democrats on Twitter came out in defense of Clinton after this comment. Democratic representative James Himes said, ‘“Women who disagree with you aren’t “nasty”. In this case, they are what is known as “right”. #debate.”’

This isn’t the first time, however, that Trump has been actively sexist. For example, he referred to former Miss Universe Alicia Machado as “Miss Piggy” because of the weight she had gained after the competition.

In addition, Trump has said that if his daughter, Ivanka, wasn’t his daughter, he would be dating her.

Whether this costs Trump the election or not is something we’ll have to see on Nov. 8.
