Bright Spots: When Daniel caught a deep ball.  Antonio hurt his ankle

Frosh Football

League Record: 1-1

Overall Record: 4-1

Last Week: Lost to Oakridge 22-27

This Week: Rocklin vs Del Oro

Bright Spots: Nate Triebess scored a touchdown during the first quarter.

They said it:  Nolan Oharran said,”It was our first real game against a good team and we both played as hard as we could till the last second.”

Max Monciardini said,”Losing in the game was a wakeup call that our team needs to work harder.”

Donovan Lopez said,”We fought hard and lost with dignity.”

JV Cheer

Last Week: After practicing all week with All squad, JV Cheer performs at freshman game. Performance at the Boardcoming rally, cheer their boys on and performs rally routine at halftime. They continue to cheer for the first half of the varsity game and perform their sweet homecoming all squad routine for halftime!

This Week: Cheer practices for Home game vs Del Oro, and gets ready for Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Bright Spots: Performance goes well at both All squad performances at freshman and varsity football game and both rally routine performances at rally and JV football game.

They said It: “It was a super busy week, luckily we had a Bye Week before so we were able to work on our rally routine, but all last week we only had time for our All Squad Homecoming routine. It turned out great and I’m glad all the hard work paid off!” (Taylor Sorenson)

Varsity Water Polo

Boys:

League Record:3-1

Overall Record: 5-1 (Including Tournaments 9-2)

Last Week:  Won over Del Oro at DO 14-5 on Wednesday, September 28th.

This Week: Defeated Oak Ridge at home 11-7 last Wednesday, October 5th.

Key Moments: Patrick Guinn was able to score a few early goals to get the boys an early lead and they were able to hold on for the win.

Player Watch: Currently, Matthew Alexander has been putting up an MVP performance and has helped lead the team to their past few wins.

Injury Report: Johnathan Flowers has recovered, but Clayton Cottrell did not play due to a concussion.

Girls:

League Record:2-2

Overall Record: 7-5 (including tournament 10-7)

Last Week: Lost to Del Oro at DO 9-6 last Wednesday, the 28th.

This Week: Marginally defeated Oak Ridge 10-7 last Wednesday, October 5th at home.

Injury Report: The DL is blank this week!

JV WATER POLO

Overall Record 1-2

Last Week JV Boys/Girls: Wednesday October 5 @ Rocklin 3:45pm vs Oakridge HS

Thursday October 6 @ Rocklin 6:45pm vs Bella Vista

This Week  JV Boys/Girls: Wednesday October 12 @ Woodcreek 6:45pm vs Woodcreek

Bright Spots JV boys won Oakridge 11-7 Won Bella Vista 15-6 No known injuries at either game. Really exciting wins. Sets were the most scored in the games.

JV girls won Oakridge by forfeit. The final score was 12-4. JV girls lost Bella Vista 13-4 No known injuries at either game. Sadie Smurthwaite scored the most points.

JV TENNIS

Last Week:

This Week (or Upcoming Games):

Bright Spots (or Key Players or something like that): Many players from JV found that playing Granite Bay was their most interesting match because their skill levels are essentially equal.

They said it:: “Naveena did a great job [at Granite Bay] because her match was 6-3 during the first set, and 6-1 the second set. So it was an amazing win” (Shreya Redlam).

FROSH VOLLEYBALL

Overall Record:16-3

Last Week: On October 3, they played at Del Oro and had a 2-0 win. Then on October 5, they played at home and had a hard battle against Oakridge and lost 1-2.

This Week: They played Woodcreek HS at Rocklin HS on Monday and lost 1-2. They will be playing Folsom tomorrow, Wednesday October 13 at 4:00pm at Folsom HS.

Bright Spots: “Camryn did an awesome job hitting.” Mary Kate Sackinsky. “Gracie Adams and Abby Magelsdorf did an amazing job of getting to the ball really quick and being really aggressive.” Ashley Franz

They said it: “ We didn’t win that one but it was really tough, I think it was our mindset because we thought they we were better, so we didn’t try as hard as we could have.” Mary Kate Sackinsky

Dance Team 

Last Week: The dance team supported the boys varsity water polo team at their game on Wednesday, 10/5 and performed at the homecoming rally and football game on Friday, 10/8.

This Week: The dance team will be performing this Friday, 10/14 at the varsity football game.

Injuries: Due to ongoing injuries, Becca Walker was unable to perform with the team last Friday.

They Said It: Prior to Friday, Taylor Molloy said, “I’m excited for team dinner, and I’m excited for the the kickline because that’s when I get the most rush. I’m also excited for the rally.”

CROSS COUNTRY

Last Week: All teams participated in Capital Classic @ Haggin Oaks last Saturday October 1st.

This Week: Cross country has a very calm week this week, but they are preparing for next week’s activities.

Bright Spots: The team does not have any events but this week the team enjoyed running up Thunder Hill. They enjoyed the six mile run to Spring View Park. The group has become closer over the season and they have been very successful.
