Ever since chromebooks made an appearance on campus, all they have done is cause conflict.

However, a new era arose this year in which the school is now offering students to purchase personal chromebooks for their own benefit and make the use of chromebooks more efficient.

A few years ago when chromebooks were introduced to Rocklin High, they were considered a great device to use for working on essays, accesing schoology, taking tests, and many other advantages. But as time went on, teachers and students suddenly discovered the problems with chromebooks.

“There weren’t enough chrome carts to supply for the school. The main issue was not having a chrome cart available for use when needed in class. And a lot of people didn’t log out of their accounts,” said sophomore Elisabeth Lester.

On the other hand, personal chromebooks are a great tool to use throughout students’ high school career as they can keep track of their files, work on homework online at home, not worry about wifi problems and many other benefits.

“I love it, it personally helps me a lot because I’m not home a lot due to sports so I love the portability. And since integrated 2 and 3 is only doing ebooks I can have access to a book at all times with being able to focus on my work and not getting distracted by doing the work on my phone,” said junior Alyssa Moss.

Sophomore Emma Guensler said, “At home, [my family] doesn’t have a bunch of computers so it is nice to have my own because I can work on my homework and get all my stuff done.”

Some teachers are really ecstatic about the new idea as well but others seem to be a little nervous about the introduction of these new chromebooks.

“If [students] are willing to bring it I think it would be so helpful. My concern is I don’t know if they would want to bring it because they are afraid [their chromebooks] are going to get stolen,” said Mrs. Holly Repanich.

Although these devices had a rough impact on Rocklin High at the start, they now benefit the school which just goes to show the worst things can turn out to be improvements.

Personal chromebooks have benefited this high school in many ways such as portability, working on homework online and much more. They are now a personal option that are turning out to be very successful. These new tools are benefitting the RHS students on a personal level as well as academically.
