This movie was one of the bare necessities of your childhood. How could you have forgotten a jungle of animals assisting a young orphan back to his family’s village?

This famous 1967 film made its way through family’s homes as a classic favorite produced by none other than the famous Walt Disney. Director Jon Favreau has taken this classic film and completely revamped it. The cinematography in this film was beyond impressive, and the graphics took this movie to a whole new level to tell the story.

That being said, the graphics also seemed to bring these jungle animals to life, especially if you choose to see the 3D option. Be cautious if you plan to bring a little brother or sister to see this movie, as they may end up in your lap halfway through the film.

This film has its fair share of action scenes, which was very exciting to see in a movie such as the Jungle Book. It was refreshing to stray away from the dancing cartoon animals and singing characters that was common in the original.

As far as the story plot goes, not many can recall exactly what the cartoon version of the Jungle Book story is even about. In this new film, the storyline is much more apparent. It is easy to follow the story of the young boy, Mowgli, and his adventure through the jungle to reunite with his village.

It was nice to see the coming together of nature and humanity in this film. Favreau did a very good job balancing the two worlds while focusing on some important life lessons. He chose to take an optimistic view on the natural environment of the jungle, and made it look almost magical.

Director Jon Favreau has taken a good thing and made it into something extraordinary in the modification of this 1967 film. This movie is a must-see, and when it comes out on DVD, it’ll be a bare necessity.
