Track and Field

League Record: Start this week

Last Week: Thunder Invitational was on Saturday. There were about 50 teams competing.

This Week /Upcoming Games: Del Oro meet on Friday and the first league meet at Woodcreek on Wednesday.

Key Players: Lyndsey Settle accepted a partial scholarship to Chico State. Brena won the shot put competition at the Thunder Invitational. Cynthia won discus.

They said it: “JV shot put, Brena , Erin Whelan, Cynthia Cazares are all outstanding.” -Mr. Matt Eckman

Records Breakers: Elle Knorzer is on the way to breaking all of the Womens long distance records that were set in 1998

Memorable moments: “There was a guy very close to the finish line and he fell. He stuck out his arms, and he still won the race.” -Abe Horrillo

Frosh Soccer

Last Week: Freshman beat Oakridge 2-1

This Week/Upcoming Games: Freshman will play against Bella Vista on Tuesday, St. Francis on Thursday, and Roseville on Friday.

Bright Spots/Key Players: Amena Nelson scored the last goal which won the Freshman team the match against Oakridge.

They said it: “The game against Oakridge was physical and caused a lot of frustration and conflicts between our players and the other team.” Andreia Keane

Memorable moments: Coach Werner got the time wrong for the Oakridge game, so the whole team showed up an hour early.

JV Soccer

League Record: 5- 4

Last Week: On Monday, JV beat Oakridge 1-0.

This Week/Upcoming Games: JV plays against Oak Ridge on Friday.

They said it: “We played hard but it was windy, so we had to pass to feet. Towards the end of the game though, we developed a great defensive mindset.” Kelsey Brendlen.

Varsity Soccer

League Record: 6-2-1

Last Week: On Monday, Varsity lost to Oakridge 1-3.

This Week/Upcoming Games: Varsity plays against Oak Ridge on Friday.

Bright Spots/Key Players: Maddy Morrison scored the only goal against Oakridge.

They said it: “The game against Oakridge was frustrating but we tried hard and stuck together.” Megan Kuo

Stunt

League Record: 7-1

Overall Record: 7-1

Last Week: Won both games last Tuesday and a tournament on Saturday 3-1.

This Week/Upcoming Games: They have a showcase at the rally on Friday and in two weeks,  Norcal Championship on the 25th.

They said it: “The most memorable moment is just winning all the games that we have won and showing everyone that Stunt is a sport.” -Nicole Raymond

JV Boys Volleyball

League Record: 1-2

Overall Record: 2-10

Last Week: Played in a tournament on Saturday and went 0-6

Varsity Boys Volleyball

Overall Record: 3-11

Last Week:  Played Granite Bay and Nevada Union and lost both

Swim Team

Last Week: April 10th and 11th, Norcal Invitational at Woodcreek all day

This Week/Upcoming Games: April 17th, at Rocklin against Oakridge at 3:30

Bright Spots/Key Players or something like that: Patrick Guinn, Andrew Rutschmann, Evan Pugh, and Catie Mattson all qualified for Saturday’s events.

Memorable moments: “It was really cool to qualify for sections, and that’s kind of a big deal as a freshman. That’s probably something I’ll remember for a long time.” -Catie Mattson

Boys Golf Varsity

Last Week: Oakridge on Thursday

This Week: Del Oro (Tuesday, April 14th) and Wookcreek (Thursday, April 16)

Bright Spots: Grant Leppek, Bryson Zorich, Sam Harned, Jake Leppek, Josh Verhaag

Close Calls: “We lost four matches within three strokes.” -Grant Leppek

Boys Golf JV

This Week /Upcoming Games: Woodcreek (Wednesday at 3:00)and Del Oro(Monday at 3:30)

Bright Spots/Key Players: Drew Navarre and Carter Wiklund

They said it:  “A lot of guys have low scores and the hardest school we’ve gone against is Folsom.” -Sam Tirrell

Close Call: They lost three matches by a couple shots

Memorable Moments/Record Breaker: Two guys on our team shot in the 30s (Carter Wiklund and Sam Tirrell)

Boys Tennis

League Record: (6-3)

Overall Record: (13-5)

Last week: Beat  Woodcreek 9-0 on 4/7 but lost to Folsom 6-3 on 4/9

Upcoming Games: They will be playing Granite Bay on 4/14, and at Nevada Union at 4/16
