A childhood classic has people excited for Rocklin High School’s production of Beauty and the Beast. For the first time ever performed on Rocklin’s stage, people are quite interested for this Disney movie adaptation, for Rocklin has never performed any Disney production ever.

With the cast list up and in the third week of rehearsal, the show is already gaining steam with the new opportunities for freshman to join the theatre program as well as new leads. This year Rocklin has a new choreographer as well, and has already gotten attention from recreating classic spins on this musical tale. Maure Gildea, ensemble, comments on how this is her first show and how overjoyed she is for the production.

“I’m just crazy excited because it’s one of those films you grow up watching, and just to recreate and make one of these songs come to life is just a privilege,” said Maure.

The entire school will be able to have a sneak peek of the talents in the show and the progress during the VAPA assembly on January 28. Already, people have stirred praise for the show that has only just begun. Matt Klinger, an assistant director, commented:

“I’m excited how we bring the movie to life in our own way. The cast brings the show to life with cute and high energy dance numbers… I’m excited to see the costumes and set to come together and become an amazing show”

This show means more to other people though; this will be several senior’s last performances and last chance for them to shine. Kylee Mebust is going out with a bang, as this is her last musical at Rocklin High and she gets to experience being Belle, a lead for one of her final performances. She exclaimed how:

“I am excited to be apart of one of my favorite movies, and I get to play one of my favorite characters… (but) it doesn’t feel like it is my last musical.” She sadly implied how, “It is all going to hit me closing night… This is way better than a ‘nice experience.’ It is surreal to think that now I am now a senior people look up to, because I remember doing that when I was an underclassman. I love working with everyone and I am sad that this is my last musical, but still very happy that I have this opportunity.”

There are many people interconnected within this small winter production and the importance stands below the surface. People watch the show and how they perform, but the people really bring it together to make everything work. Everyone has their story, and they put that energy into the show.

So come see Rocklin High School’s Production of Beauty and the Beast February 10, 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 21.
