With a score of 56-21, and multiple injuries, the Thunder football team lost much more than a game to Folsom last Friday.

This week the Rocklin Football team plays Granite Bay and with many admirable athletes not being able to play, this will be one of the more challenging games of the season.

“Although we didn’t get the W, we did a lot of really good things with the people we had. Everyone really stepped up to fill in for the injured players,” said junior QB, Will Floyd.

Many talented players including, Riley Clark, Evan Michalet, and Garrett Kauppila were recently injured in the game against Folsom.

Coach Benzel says “While its not ideal, it is a challenge we need to overcome. Injuries are part of the game and we are prepared for that.”

As the team prepares to face Granite Bay who is 6-2, losing only to Vacaville in preseason and Folsom in their season opener, it is becoming more and more important for the team to stay composed.

“We have a really strong sense of unity and that is what has helped carry the team all this way,” says Benzel.

This game is also important for the team to get a good seed in playoffs.

He also adds, “We just need to play solid Rocklin football for 48 minutes and build off that mentality, which will prepare us for playoffs and whatever comes our way.”

The game has playoff implications with the winner likely to get a home game in two weeks.
