Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Honestly, streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu can be overwhelming, carrying over 100,000 titles within their libraries. While navigating through the multitude of pages, I happened to stumble across what I think is a gem of a TV show: Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
The show takes place in Brooklyn, New York in the 99th Precinct of the NYPD. Shot through a single camera, it documents the inner workings of the precinct and captures the hilarious nature of the office workers and detectives attempting to function together. Jake Peralta, played by Andy Samberg, is the protagonist of the show. Peralta is a goofy yet gifted detective who has an uncanny knack for solving crimes. His free-spirited nature is rivaled by the new precinct Captain, Ray Holt (played by Andre Baugher) who has plenty of military experience and will not stand for Peralta’s antics. On the side, Peralta is in a constant competition with co-worker Amy Santiago, played by Melissa Fumero, to see who can bust the most cases that enter the precinct. The two conflicts blend together to create a show that is both humorous and entertaining.
I, for one, cannot stop watching it despite the hours of homework I know I should be doing. The humor in the show keeps my attention and the unfolding of the plot is both gripping and compelling. I would recommend this show to anyone with a love for “The Office” or an interest in action comedy.
